Hi All,

I'm just wondering if it is possible to change the plastic wheels on the Mantua/Tyco GP20 I was just given? They are all cracked. The metal wheels seem fine. If it is possible, Who would I get new ones ( or used ) ones from?

Thanks
Mike

Used ones may be the most likely solution.
You can use ones from the newer power torque drives.
The tender driven steamers had a non geared wheel with traction tires that could be used on the drive truck.

Are you talking about pulling the wheel from the axle?

Yes, That would be the easiest way. You would have to pull off at least one sideframe from each truck but you wouldn't have to deal with drilling out rivets.

So you use a gear puller or something? Then how do you remount the wheel on the axle?

Hi All,

I have not tried to pull the side frames off yet, but I did notice that I can turn the wheels in different directions on each axle ( with some effort ). If I do this after I get the side frames off one side should pull right out right?

Thanks
