Hello All...Who can tell me about the Powerline brand from Australia? History? Quality? I picked up a boxed 'class 48' diesel. Paid $65 for it--noticed others going for upwards of $200. I don't think the Texas seller knew what it was--and I don't either for that matter! Thanks, Chris

| I'm on my iPad now, when I get on a 'real' computer, I'll upload a pic. However, If you search Google Images for Powerline class 48, you should see them. I think Powerline may have a website also.

Similar to the one I bought, except mine is red, and is lettered "Silverton."

They do actually. Here's a link to it. http://www.powerline.com.au/

I am presuming you have this engine? I have a number of Powerline items. Got into them as among other things I collect Bicentennial engines and cars. They are pretty good runners - I equate them to Bachmann Plus. One thing about the units - the flanges are larger than items produced for the US, they run fine on code 100 track, but you will have trouble on anything less. Powerline is its own company (not owned by anyone else), they produce exclusively Australian trains and do not export - you can get them on ebay from someone or some store in Australia, or occasionally someone here has one. They used to sell direct, but I do not believe you can purchase from them anymore. I had purchased a handful over the years from ebay, then I was lucky enough to have my job send me there - and brought some back. I thought I knew where I put them in my storage unit, I'll try to dig some out to post pics.

| Yes, That's the one...Thanks for the info. I know almost nothing about Australian railways (or models). The loco has a tough, boxy look, and the price seemed right, so I'm anxious to get it and check it out. I'm assuming it has a single 'power truck' and the model just seems to be inspired by Hornby or Lima, so I'm expecting something along those lines.
