Got this at the LHS after David caught me looking at it repeatedly! That's all it seems to take sometimes. This is an AC powered HO F3 with heavy die-cast shell. I'm still amazed I got it to work. The E-unit is a little balky, but it does work. Hint, Made In Japan.

Before you stated it was made in Japan, I thought it was Marx or Model Power but now you have me stumped.

Most of those Japanese HO makers are unknown over here, and rarely put their names on the chassis either. This will be a tough one to figure out. Looks nice, though.

No clue what it is, but a friend of mine has been trying to sell some matching cars from that "Hudson Pacific Railway" diecast set for years and years. If you want them I can put you in touch with the guy, he might remember where he has 'em packed away...

I'd be interested in seeing some pix if he can find the cars. I have no idea what the loco came with. You have piqued my curiosity. The game is afoot!!

| A couple of websites call it a "Sakai" which supposedly made ho and O trains into the 60's. One blogger claims that these are highly collectible, and that the freelance Hudson and Pacific was a common name they used.

I found a photo of the exact diesel you have online and it is in fact a Sakai diesel.

Pretty fast , you guys. In fact , that's the very picture I found , by chance, while looking up something unrelated. Wish it only took ME that short a time.
