Can barely move three Life Like Am coaches. Traction tires are intact, and I weighted it down with as much lead as I could fit. Seems like best option is to take the lead out before I ream the drive gear off the shaft and install a second power truck (presently only one is powered). Anyone got an extra three axles GG1 power truck for sale?

I would definitely remove the lead before you overtax the thing. The pinion won't handle it.
A sluggish PT means that either the brushes are fouled with oil, old grease, hair, etc. is binding the gearing, or both. I would disassemble the truck and motor and clean the parts thoroughly, and soak the brushes in strong solvent. Alcohol is good enough for the commutator, and polishing it with an eraser doesn't hurt as long as you remove any eraser shavings. Reassemble and only oil the brush side bearing if it squeals, and even then only use a very small drop.
Once tuned up it should pull a few LL coaches easily. A second power truck is only going to cause problems if one is running fine and the other is sluggish.
