I need to find a replacement Crossbar Guide for my mantua 4-6-2 pacific w/long haul tender. 349 Series Locomotive. It screws on to the chassis just in front of the drive gear box. The one that came with this newer Mantua was cheap and did not last long. Does anyone have an idea on improvising/making one, using a similar piece from a different loco or finding a spare part anywhere? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks folks.

Hey John, You might find one on eBay. It's pretty amazing the stuff you can find; just type it in and see what happens. I've made guide bar yokes before, so I'm sure you can do it. Just a question of "patience" and "practice" (make a few trial pieces and you'll perfect your technique). But, keep watching ebay. Post a photo of the part you're looking for.

Thanks Barry, I have been on e-bay a lot but the part never seems to be available. If you have any other tips on how to improvise one I sure would appreciate it. Until then I will experiment around with an old junk model and see how it goes. Thanks for your time and help.
