For an interesting project, I decided to convert a Bachmann N scale Plymouth switcher to HOn30. I built a styrene frame, and then a cab and hood on top of that frame. The fuel tanks were made from pieces of scrap plastic and the horn is from a junk diesel shell. I still have to add a etched brass grille to the front of the locomotive, and couplers.
These pictures were taken before the final details were added.
Of course the engine needed some cars as well. Narrow gauge sugar cane railways sometimes make boxcars out of containers, sheds, and trailers with rail wheels attached. I modeled this with two Tyco trailers. I added side doors, ladders, and N scale wheels, then I painted and weathered them. They still need couplers.

Sorry for the poor quality pictures, they were taken on my computer's built in camera.

Very interesting project, Chessie. I'm looking forward to how it turns out.

Thank you! The locomotive and cars are pretty much finished, but I will continue to build more cars to add to the train.

Looking good. It would be interesting to see it next to a standard gauge engine just for a size comparison. - Thomas

Pretty cool chessierr. Creative and nice to look at. Seems easily believable in the appropriate scene.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments!
Thomas - I will try to get a picture of the whole set with a standard HO engine.
