Hey Guys:

I'm thinking that we pick a date in a couple of months and then by that date we hold a contest to see who has the most impressive head end power consist.

There could be a Monty Python category like a 4-4-0 general back to back with a a coulpe of F-7 "B" units in between (A-B-B-A!!!???) or who knows what.

An open category, any manufacturer, any scale as long as you have the loco's; NO Hypotheticals! but following prototype practice as in a 3 unit of Super 630's for example from the same road or cousins at least like a NYC & a PRR on the same head.

Finally a Tyco only consist in again proto style!

Anyway the idea needs fleshing out and BTW: I was inspired by DaCheez's and Brian's Videos of cool trains and music. So each person submits a video with music for judging by the rest!???
OK, guys, what do you think!?

-Gareth
PS: I'm developing an idea for a Tyco forum Tyco train Olympics contest for later in the year![}:)] [}:)] [}:)] [}:)]

Okay, I've got a couple good ideas.

Do they have to actually run though or could they be lined up together like they were ready to roll?

Hey Tony:

I'm inclined to say It has to run since a Locomotive that doesn't run is an Oxymoron, but I will be guided by the congregation, I mean forum members![:D]

So does the video have to be of one train only (same engine and cars in each shot)??

For each category, there is one traiin consisting of your Locomotive lash-up of whatever then a suitable # of cars.

You could if you entered more than category show one train after the other in the same video.

The goal here is the WOW factor as in oh my Gawd, twelve ICG 430's in a lash-up pulling 64 cars and a caboose!

Get the idea?

Gareth,

You mean like a home video from the '80's of a Big Boy pulling @ 20 cars, all CF hoppers, COV hoppers and Billboard box cars and a caboose? Before my son broke the driveshaft? That's about the ony way I can do it I have no set up here so if it has to be current I'll just watch and vote.

Hey Bob:

With the roster you have, you should be able to put something together!? Only needs to be a temporary track!

Ain't gonna happen here.
When the kids moved out I thought I had it made. Now my daughter and granddaughter are back and the basement is wall to wall to wall (there's a wall?) junk and the spare bedrooms are spoken for, so it's probably better for me to be a judge. I wish now I could set something up. Doing this inventory thing really opened my eyes as to what I really have here and what I forgot I had. And the list isn't complete.

Gareth,

I'm actually sittin here laughing. When I went to Strasburg one time with my father in law, who only collected Lionel's, we went to the "Toy train Museum" mostly dedicated to Lionel we sat and watched an old short clip that Lionel produced. It was about Christmas dinner and a falmily sitting down to eat and when someone asked to pass the gravy the father put the gravy bowl on a flat car and ran it around the table, and the rest of the meal went in the same direction. It was hilarious.
