Really unique. Love the diamond in the middle- super photo. Have seen the DD unit in El Paso pulling UP passenger (corporate) consist. Heard that once a Veranda Turbine was stopped under an asphalt overpass and over a period of time the turbine exhaust melted the pavement so badly the bridge had to be completely resurfaced.

Big, as in long, Jello train. Loco's by Bachmann. Cars by Tyco. See it run in the "Loose Ends" section.

My locomotive of the week. A custom built Hobbytown Pa-1. Just look at that flywheel!

I picked up this Shark nose Canadiana shell, added a PT motor and she's a runner.

Every once in a while something comes along that just hits me on my Tycomania bone. This Canadiana Shark would be it. Be still, my beating heart. Simply flaming gorgeous. I want first refusal if you ever let her go.
BTW, what is a PT motor and how did you install it?
Any chance you might do some video? That is a fine looking layout, would love to see it spin.

Eric, that PA-1 is awesome! Someone put a lot of work into that. How many times does it coast around the layout after you cut the throttle?

PT means PowerTorque, which was the later type of motor in most Tycos. Read around the forums and you'll find all sorts of discussions about them, their maintenance, their replacement, etc.
Sounds like you are new to some of this? If so, hang on...it's a fun ride.

I'll give you first shot at it if I let it go. PT is the standard Tyco power torque motor. I found this shell on ebay with a Rock Island & Midnight Special shark's. The RI was the running loco, Canadiana and Midnight were shells, Swapped the running gear to the Canadiana and it lives. I have posted pics of my layout here, I'll try to find the pics and link it.

Ah, yes. The infamous Power Torque. The reason people don't like them is because they're not very smooth runners although you can make them smooth runners.

From IHC/Mehano,,a 2-8-2 Mikado , Atlantic Coast Line. Not a bad catch for $50 and it is in factory fresh condition and runs like a champ. Turns out I am quite happy with it.

This one heck of a layout, click on Eaglerock109's link above for a fabulous ride! My two favorite bits: I spotted a Planter's Peanut, and I love that extra swooshing double track curve. That adds a lot of visual drama to the action of the trains. Clearly, a labor of love (or madness)! Make sure I get to see that upcoming video!!

It coasts about 3-4 feet after cutting off the power on my 4x10 layout.

I have a pair of Penn Central locomotives for my LOTW. First up is an AHM/Roco Alco C-424, repainted from the original C&NW color scheme. Nice smooth running loco and strong puller.
Next up an Athearn SD-45, repainted from the original Santa Fe scheme - and recently equipped with a set of Ernst gears. No sound system needed

My LOTW is a contunuation of my previous offering. This week the Mantua 4-8-2 Mountain Mechanism kit showed up and to my surprise, it came with the original box!
Don't see too may original boxes dating from ~1938-41 any more!
