I just came into possesion of over 200 frieaght cars from an estate. Some I will keep and others I will offer the rest here first before E baying them. From first look they appear in fair to good condition, withmany missing wheel sets which I have plenty of.
I did find some odd curiosities. I think I know what they are, but need help identifying them for certain.

I also have a pair of side dump cars like the diffco cars, but with the same pins on their side as the boxcar. Next I have one with european bumpers on it

quote: Correction. Those "bumpers" are buffers an it appears to be a Marklin car. Not exactly sure.

The box car is an unloading ice carrier. You load the blocks of ice into the top of the car and when the car stops at the unloader (the 2 pins engage the trackside apparatus) you push the activator button and the ice blocks shoot out the open door of the box car.

Come on, guys. The boxcar is Tyco, super common operating unloading box car. Made from 1971-1980. Unloads crates.

There were two variants on this, one a log car, the other an ore dump car; the latter is probably what the OP has:

thanks IVRR235
I had a suspicion that they were tyco but then Lionel also made some operating cars too. I also have the side dump cars as well. does any one know how to test them to see if they work?
If any one on the forum can use them, PM me and I will pass them along to you. Maybe they have some parts value to them.

The bulk hopper was a kit. It was produced by Airfix, a British Company.
