My COTW is finally up! It's a Spokane Portland & Seattle box car that I have no idea who made it. Anyway, here it is!

My COTW is a Bachmann full dome car. It represents a dome car I saw for a couple years on the New River Gorge excursion train - It had been stripped down to bare metal and lettered for the "Iowa Pacific". I think it has recently been repainted in Illinois Central colors (the owner apparently a big IC fan). This particular car started off as an Amtrak Phase I dome car in sad shape - I stripped and repainted it, added the diaphragms, new wheelsets and couplers, and tinted the glass. The decals are custom.

my COTW is almost like my COTH from a couple of weeks ago, that one was a Lionel Seaboard flat car and boat, this one is a GM&O flat car with boat. I picked it up last week from the flea market for $3 I think.

Nice work on that Iowa Pacific. The boat piece is real different. Love that Tropicana; seems to be no end to the variations of Tyco.

This is interesting in itself. Iowa Pacific is a holding company, not a particular railroad . One would expect the car to be labeled for one of the particular railroad lines.
By the way, Iowa Pacific does not have holdings in Iowa.

Another rehash, but this old piece is so nice I just have to post her again. She is probably kit built, and probably quite vintage as the metal trucks appear to be sand cast. Her back story is that she was most likely built by an El Paso Train Club member, and registered with the NMRA late 60's to early 70's as a "private owner" rail line under the McCurry Line. In combing through club archives, I came across a rather heated letter addressed to the NMRA complaining that while dues had been paid faithfully, the organization had failed to duly post the private owner lines in the monthly newsletter; dated from about 1972. Well, I hope Mr. McCurry can enjoy this as much as we do...

That's a neat Iowa Pacific dome! I have the same car, in sad shape, and have been wondering what to do with it. Mind if I make the version in IC colors someday (if I ever have the time...)?
That boat flatcar sure is different. I have three in Seaboard colors but I've NEVER seen GM&O! Or a red boat on it for that matter, mine are blue. You found a real gem of a flatcar there.
Old heavyweight: Red Ball RPO I'm thinking, and one with quite a story to tell. Love the backstory on that one. Don't change a thing, just keep 'er rolling!
My COTW would be a battered Fleischmann gondola I just turned into a steel mill idler car... if I had a camera that worked
Oh, and Kovacste000: your SP&S boxcar is an MDC (Roundhouse) car. You can always tell those by the stirrup steps. All other manufacturers mold them as part of the shell, but Roundhouse cars have them as part of the plastic frame.

That was what I was thinking it was. I like it besides the fact that one of the couplers are gone.

Thanks - and please do! And I have to set the facts straight, the "Sky View" I did is still in its Santa Fe -esque colors. Iowa Pacific has another Budd full dome car called the "Sunset View" now painted in IC colors, as well as one in GN Empire Builder colors. Google Iowa Pacific - the owner is really living the dream with his trains. He has an E-unit also painted for the IC. Cool stuff.

tramp that is a nice one - looks brand new, and I don't think I've seen one of that type either. Interesting markings with the red ball/yellow bar.

Don't know what those colors indicate but would like to know.
It is not a Hi-Cube. The box reads what I described.

Not sure but I think the yellow door with the red meatball was to make it easy to identify it as a grain loading car.
