Last year, I offered an MS Paint scheme for my railroad, highlighting a fictitious midwestern N-5c Pennsylvania-type caboose. Well, It finally became a reality this afternoon.
This was an unbuilt Bowser kit I picked up at the local club swap meet for $4.00 about 3 years ago, and started work on it last summer- then, like so many of us, I put it aside for some reason and just remembered that it was still in progress last week.
All the decals are my own custom ones and the windows are all "glazed'. No lighting or anything fancy on this one:

That's a wrap for now...

Ron,
Excellent job in "Protolancing". The paint scheme and herald are attractive and stand out.
Imho, it would be worth it to add some small details, such as brake hoses, marker lights, and light weathering along the bottom sides and platform ends. A single, micro-sized incandescent bulb is all you'd need for realistic interior lighting as prototype cabooses (as least the ones I saw) appeared dimly lit at night time when viewed from grade crossings.

Be creative, share and enjoy the hobby :-)

Tony, Jerry, Barry:
As always, I am greatly appreciative of yours and other's nice remarks concerning my modeling efforts; though- in truth- I see so many modeler's work that is far more skilled and deserving of acclaim than myself, that I consider my own efforts "just middlin" at best.
The caboose was originally planned as one of two, as I have another identical Bowser Nc5 kit still unbuilt.
The smaller size of my layout (construction in progress) really does not support too much of the same exact thing, so I will repurpose the other caboose to a fictitious Great Northern one with a similar (purchased from a Pennsy sub-division line) storyline, to keep things "in the family of GN", as I have a lot of Microscale GN caboose decals waiting to be used.
I will post that project in the future (summer).
Again, many thanks!
Ron

Looks great! I actually have a similar project with the Capitol Coal car from the Hunger Games movies that I want to make. I'm pretty sure that won't become a reality for a while. Here's a concept that I made of the whole car.
I know, I suck at MS Paint or whatever the heck I used on my Mac to color this.

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."
