Hey, everyone. I have an ho scale proto 2000 EMD SD7 and I wanna do something about the couplers on it that stick out like a goose's neck. What should I do? Should I body mount Kadee #33 coupler boxes? Anyways, here are some pics:

The Kadee 33 would be the option I would try first. With the original coupler/coupler pocket removed from the chassis, would there be room to fabricate and attach a styrene pad to inside of the shell to mount the Kadee to? Looks like there would be but you don't have a pic of the underside of the shell with chassis attached.

I want to leave the original coupler pocket mounting pad on. I'll try the Kadee #33's without building up a pad.

You can do that of course. But I'm thinking if you mount to the shell directly the 33 will stick out almost as far as what you have now, plus you'll have to drill up into the shell. But...try it and see
