Since there is some "confusion" with a new poster, I'm going to restart this, and make it "official". LOL. Anyway, was passing through Gloucester, VA yesterday afternoon after a funeral I'd been to, heading home and doing some sight-seeing. Found this antique place called Holly Hills, so decided to stop. Had a very eclectic and rustic atmosphere, so I poked around awhile. Many interesting items, but no toys as yet. The oriental lady there said there were more buildings, and the main house, too. So I made my way along and about the 4th small out-building, there were the toys. Diecasts, trains, misc. other stuff. but like the zombie said.....TRRRRRRRAINS.....TRRRRRRRRRRRAINS. LOL! Had some brown and red box Tycos, nothing I saw I wanted there. Oh, a flat car with a Sears TOFC trailer! MINE! Also a Marx Rocket Fuel car, also mine. THen I hit the little table with Lionel tracks on it, and hmm...some interesting stuff. I found a couple of small 25 ? ton diesels, my boss at the train shop later said General Mills era stuff, so I put them in my Want pile, no prices on them. Also found a Lionel Monon action box car, and a Horse car, too. Had them taken to the guy in the house for pricing. Here's the locomotives, a 2-for-1 LOTW today. :)

Lady came back and said $90 for all. SOLD! Can't argue with that price! The Marx car was $12, the Sears TOFC and flat together about $13, so 25 for the HO alone. $70 for the two lionel engines and two cars, a very good deal far as I'm concerned.

My LOTW is also a 2-for-one, a set of AHM Alco/GE S2 switchers I recently got off of raysouthpac. I could not find a picture of any real C&O switchers in this paint scheme, but I love it so it stays. Limited my tweaking to adding Kadees, putting a new set of numbers on them, repainting the handrails, and a minor clean/tune up. They run beautifully.

kovacste000, It is an HO scale Gilbert - American Flyer locomotive, produced in New Haven Connecticut sometime in the 1950's - 1960's. The build date would have been stamped in white paint on the inside of the boiler (sometimes on a black piece of tape)

Almost added this to last week's LOTW...
An ER model ROCO HO Demonstrator Shark... the one in front. Look up this thing on Ebay... you will not find this thing for less than $60... Mine is Mint, DCC'able... bought it for $30.
Now... I cannot run it with my Bachmann equals unless I remove the decoders in them, I think. That's a job that requires desoldering and hard-wiring... I'm not sure I'm up to the challenge.
By the way, these ROCO's and the Bachmann's have single flywheels... and they are on the smaller side, as well.
More on these later!
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Guys, I never participate in the LOTW because I don't have a lot of cool engines like most of you do. Most of mine are Tyco, 4 - 630s and a switcher, then several brands of common F series...

Hyde,
That's one sweet looking engine.
I noticed that the pilot truck has 33 inch wheels. I have the Roundhouse old timer mogul and it has smaller wheels on the pilot truck to keep them from fouling the front coupler box.
I'm wondering: does the pilot truck on that engine work well on 18 inch radius turns and number 4 switches or does the coupler box get in the way of the wheels some?
Thanks, Don

So. many. Questions!
I've run it on 18's and 22's, no problem on either. Don't think it's ever derailed, period.
Very smooth, very quiet, and yes they can pull a lot. most I've had it do was 6 Athearn heavyweights. Can pull it for sure. Dcc ready, overall very nice engine. Directional lighting, can do slow speeds, one of my favorites.

Jerry, those old AHM Alcos look great on your layout. I was tempted myself.
Justin, nice 2-4-2. It's not too common to find those New Ones with the archbar trucks intact.
Nice Consolidation Hyde, but what's with the creepy cloaked figure in the background?

I mean, there's a folded chair right above the oil bunker on the tender if that's what you're referring to. This is an old photo. Round July I think.

Sure, you say it's a folding chair, but I think you caught a shadow person... or maybe a local druid. Either way you should submit the picture to Ghost Hunters. They'll probably set up 18 IR cameras around it to figure out what it is, only to wet themselves when confronted with cloth beach furniture.

quote:My LOTW is also a 2-for-one, a set of AHM Alco/GE S2 switchers I recently got off of raysouthpac. I could not find a picture of any real C&O switchers in this paint scheme, but I love it so it stays. Limited my tweaking to adding Kadees, putting a new set of numbers on them, repainting the handrails, and a minor clean/tune up. They run beautifully.

I definitely like those switchers in that C&O blue livery. They look so nice in it. I have an n-scale version of it in Milwaukee Road livery which was made by the n-scale company Arnold. It says "Made In West Germany" on the bottom.
