Went to a local train show today - did not find anything on my list, but found a few interesting things things, a couple of AHM Monon BL2s, could not leave them there. An Accurail kit of a 40' T&RGW box car, an AHM L&N flat car and a Tyco tractor with UP piggyback trailer. At top is the AHM FM C-Liner that Randy sent my way

I was told the BL2s 'ran great', have not tried them out yet but for the price I'm happy

Thanks guys - I had to hold back a bit seeing as there is another train show coming up a couple hours away in Clifton Forge VA next week.

ken - The BL2 is not my favorite loco, but in those Monon colors it's a different beast. Very classy.

Nice finds, Jerry. I particularly like the NYC FM. Gots a few of them my own self.

The BL2's look like they're in great shape, and should be smooth runners once cleaned and re-lubed.

I love all those engines you got. They're pretty cool! I specially like the Monon diesels I forget what they're called.I could've gotten one at my local train show.

These were my train show finds this week... Total spent~$135:

I think I struck a little bit of gold in this lot. The Bowser K4 kit was only $40. The Mantua Mikado (now 2-8-4) and the Mantua Mighty Mite 0-4-0 were a package deal at $65 and the Mantua Pacific was $25. That leaves $5 for the ND Athearn boxcar.

It is a small 3x row volunteer fire hall show I go to ever year and manage to find something good every year. So I keep going!

I don't think I've seen that T&RGW roadname before. Interesting.

Are the UP tractor trailers particularly collectable? I got one at a train show. Was thinking of putting here on the Trading Post for sale.

Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

I had seen the road name mentioned here before but I had never heard of it until then, had even assumed it was a freelanced road.
Don't know about the collectibility of the UP tractor trailers - I'll pick them up at shows if they're not too expensive (this one was $2). There are some trailer names and tractor colors that are rarer and more 'collectible' than others, Going in Circlez has a great writeup on them.

Sean, great finds!

Here's a train show haul from last summer that I forgot to post at the time. This was from a small show, which usually have the best deals.

Here's the breakdown:

Roundhouse oldtime coach drawbar hardware: $1

Athearn GP38-2 frame: $1

Athearn sintered wheels: $4

Helix Humper motor for Mantua/Tyco large steam: $5

Hoppers, & complete Bachmann 70 tonner shell: $2 ea.

Rivarossi Tuscan 5 stripe GG1: $10

Bowser G-5 4-6-0 kit w/ superdetail parts: $30

Alco Models brass Lehigh Valley RS11: $40

AHM brass track: Free (gift from Frank)

Watching Ben drool... priceless.

Hi kovacste000
The engines have not been tested. I suspect, the 0-4-0 will fire up fine with a little oil and maybe some cleaning. It is probably the finest basic example I have ever cone across. I have one that is a bit nice, but I could hardly call basic:

The one pictured above is very nicely detailed. I have since replaced the smokebox cover. The 2-8-4 probably would run after some cleaning. It is not badly put together and is not damaged in any way. Doesn't matter. as I plan to completely part it out and sell it off for parts. Same with the K4 and the Mantua 4-6-2 Pacific. In fact, I already started to dismantle both.

LOL! Well Ken... to be honest, I am not sure how many I have. I think at least 6 at this point. I would not mind if I had them all!! That's how I roll I guess!

Tell me about it, Ken. It was marked $35, which I was about to pay, but as I was looking it over he asked me if I would take it for $30. I couldn't get the money out fast enough. Same goes for the $5 HH motor and $10 GG1... I had to ask twice, because I thought I'd heard wrong.

What? Either that dealer didn't know how to price things or he's just trying to get rid of the trains.

Could be a combination of both. He might have assumed most people aren't interested in kits anymore, and smaller shows get less foot traffic, so if sellers don't want to take something home they have to make the price attractive. He also had a Bowser Old Lady 2-8-0 kit for the same price, but I passed. I probably should have bought both.

Show I did this last Sunday another dealer was blowing out old inventory for 50% off the lowest marked price.

I got some stuff just to flip - Micro Engineering On30 turnouts for under $10 a shot? A Walthers turntable with drive for $32.50 - the drive alone is $20. A Rivarossi O IHB 0-8-0 kit in the box for $15...

You're not just whistling Dixie about $ and space! I limited myself to one, and liked the G-5 better.

Ben, the GG1 was was in perfect shape. I was equally jazzed about the motor. Turns out Helix Humper isn't around anymore, so they can go for a lot money when they turn up on eBay.

Last 0-8-0 I had sold for $50 or so, didn't want to sell it but wanted some cash for a trip, promptly went to a show while on the trip and bought another one for $20. I've sat on that one.
