Well, I have a 3-day weekend, and wouldn't you know it- those winter storms up north threw another cold and rainy front down to us here in "usually sunny" Tampa, but...it's great model railroading weather, right? (I used to say the same thing as a kid when we hot 2 feet of new snow up in the midwest, sigh...)
But here- no shoveling!

So- I went to work on finishing the wiring for the 2- led caboose cabin lighting and wired one led P to N and the other N to P, so each one lights up in either direction. Voila, as the French say- a simple constant lighting system! (and one which I readily understand!).

First, the device:

And the finished install:

It's just a thick piece of styrene with some "feet" on each end raising it a bit to allow the leads and resistors to clear the floor of the car- the holes are 1/8" to fit 3mm LEDs.

I used 1K resistors this time, but will check the intensity of these leds when the caboose is covering them, before I decide to tune down the amount of light by "dulling" the leds with fine sandpaper or a highlighter pen. The interior of the cabin is already primered, and after the outside paint it applied, I will test the leds in the dark.

Next up- painting and decaling the work caboose/ boom car cabin and storage bins.

Here is that missing second image:

Probably forgot to click on the "add this photo.." button!

The rear portion of the deck that is not to be covered by the caboose cabin will be more lightly weathered after the cabin is in place during final assembly.
