Well, Wiley, half the fun is building it. I am sure it will be great and us Tycoheads will be looking forward to your next layout!

Yes, I am aware of that. But the new blinking bridge uses an LED bulb, IIRC. But I do know about the power thing, as that also occurs with my TYCO lighted signal crossing, which gets its' electricity from the tracks as well; the locomotives slow a bit when they pass over the crossing and activate the signal.

Great mini-vid. I had no idea that the light would work so well. Usually those crossing things just wink off once the locomotive passes. Did you wire it up with a special sensor to make it work so well?

Naw, I think it has to do with the fact that the TYCO Lighted Signal Crossing uses a weight pressure sensor identical to the TYCO Crossing Gate that makes the clockwork mechanism for the bell work; then the contacts that are part of the mechanism keep touching and making the lights flash, getting its' electric power from the track. It's pretty cool, and a LOT better than when Bachmann tried doing the same thing in the 80s (their crappy Dual Crossing Gates with Flashing Lights and Bell.) I'm definitely going to use both my TYCO crossings on the new layout.
