Hello all it has been awhile but I figured Iwould try here

Still attend shows markets and the good ole Garage Yard Tag sales

last year I aquired a Lionel Electronic set from the original owners

it appears to be the 1948 version since it had the coal loader

The safest thing I can say about it is the Reciever the blue box has the tube in it appears not to be blown which is why I did not try it much as I wanted too

Which brings us to.................

How does one check service?check the set?

Does anyone have a copy of instructions on line or otherwise?

Is there info or schematics in the Lionel Service manual

Any thoughts?

I have no clue on that stuff. Is electronic control sorta like pre-historic DCC?

Its PRE EVERYTHING It uses tubes

As we know todays tech would be 75 % smaller and could run a dozen sets at least

Classic Toy Trains magazine had a detailed article on tuning up,and checking the Lionel electronic set.
I believe it was printed in 1989,or 1990.
