After waiting several months, my club member Brion repaired my SP steam shell with a scale plate patch, after the burn-through from an overheated motor. But in small-scale reality, it was a driver rod piercing the shell, so had to be patched in the shop. My friend did a wonderful job making it look like a scale repair. Everyone has a super-nice clean engine, I wanted this one to reflect some reality, that occasionally an engine must be repaired quickly and not get a full shop overhaul for minor or semi-major mishaps, so this will reflect that condition nicely. I don't know if I will bother to DCC this, as it's a Bachmann-based split frame chassis, and probably not worth doing, but it would be fun to run at modular shows. I will see how it runs on DC first, and if it can hold it's own, I may try to convert it. Here's some pictures of the final repair work. Thanks again, Brion Boyles!
