My LOTW is a Family Lines BQ23-7. I totally stripped the shell of an 80s Bachmann and started from scratch with new paint, decals, some added detailing and a repair of a cracked front pilot. Since the front handrails were missing I had to make those. I used the running chassis/drivetrain from a Bachmann Plus B23-7 and swapped out the truck sideframes for correct EMD sideframes. You can see the donor B23-7 behind it - it started life as a Conrail unit. I put the chassis from the original Bachmann BQ under it, and although both shells were identical except for the cabs, the old Bachmann chassis was a good 4 scale feet too short! So...after stretching the chassis all was good. The sideframes from the newer Bachmann chassis snapped right on to the old Bachmann trucks.

Jerry, Very impressive work on the SCL BQ-7. I like the unique look of the loco and have one of the original Bachman units that I bought at a show.

Thanks Alco Fan I've always liked the look of them too. I'd say hang on to that new-in-the-box one you have, from my experience those things are investment items now.

Very nice PA - I always loved the look of those on a passenger train in any colors.

I agree, the Alco PA is still considered to be the only diesel with the status of Honorary Steam Locomotive. I was really happy to find this one at a going out of business sale at a local hobby shop. I was blinded by the discount price and completely forgot that the Mopac didn't even own any Alco PB units, still looks good though.
