Miniature train vs. full-size sedan equals "Oops".

I particularly liked this comment below the video: "The death toll is currently at 0, but investigators wouldn't be surprised if that figured doubled by tomorrow."

Maybe it's because they're in a PARK with a car sitting on the tracks!!! Would the horn produced a different result ???

I understand that trains must blow their horns at crossing. But I learned many years ago that a horn is not the greatest safety method. There's people with hearing issues that can't hear a horn sounding. A radio in a car can cancel horn sound as can a loud muffler. My biggest lesson was in my 20s I was riding around in my Trans Am that I still have today! I had about 400 watts of Bose music cranked on the stereo, when I glance out my side glass to see a fire truck struggling to stop to keep from smashing into me! With siren and horn blaring, I didn't hear it coming!!!

Wow! I live about half a mile from that park! I've ridden that train before! It's hard to believe some car got hit by that train, they even have gates and lights!

I'm thinking the engineer saw the car in the crossing and was too busy trying to stop to whistle. I'm not sure, but it doesn't look to me like there's a driver in the car to respond to a whistle, anyway.

Mostly, engineers in this sort of recreational railroading blow the whistle at the drop of a hat. I know a guy who whistles for signals to ask the conductor whether to stop at the next station ... at the end of the track.

Actually, right before impact, you can see someone stick their palm on the inside of the car window, as if motioning the train to stop. Coulda been someone in the passenger seat, though.
