Got some of my Lionel HO engines together tonight, and took some pictures. Most are diesel, my lone steam engine is a newer version, I think Bachmann inspired. Shell currently under restoration by a fellow club member to fix a bubble in the shell caused by over-heating, so the chassis is only available for a publicity shot.

The Western Maryland I got at a show last year, along with the SP steam engine, I was surprised to see that it was made in Canada when I took it out of the box to photograph. I think the WM is complete, the rest need some parts or work to fix them.

I think the WM Diesel was done by BevBel.

No, the original box is with it, it definitely says WM on it. Lionel had a history of having others do some of their work,so maybe it is a BevBel unit. I know so little about Lionel's HO production, but most of what I've learned is that they weren't all theirs, repackaged and painted differently by others for them sometimes. would love a more complete history by any LIonel insider.

Lionel never cataloged a Western Maryland FA. The WM roadname was an after market product. I recall seeing these in Lionel Boxes with BevBel stickers on the end of the boxes.

Wow, that has to be some early Bev-Bel work, I never realized they did anything with Lionel HO.

I went back and looked at the box, and sure enough, a BevBel sticker is on the end. Although it listed a different WM engine, an FA-1 with a different number, but it did list it as a Western Maryland engine. Interesting history lesson.

That FA has the wrong trucks under it, too. They should be Type 2 trucks

Pretty sure the 1970s Lionel FAs all came on those Blomberg trucks that will break off if you try to take them apart. But then the 1960-66 drives all have an AAR-B truck, so...
