While up in Montoursville, PA on Friday, near Williamsport, I managed to slip away from the wife and visit English's Model Train supply, home of Bowser manufacturing. They have a wide variety of items, including slot car and R/C car items. My first stop was at the slot area, and lo and behold, they had the HO train cross-overs in abundance! I counted at least 10 of them there. I bought 3 of the regular, and one with the RxR painted on the roadway. I also got all the adapters I needed for all 4 as well. Only useful with the Power-Lok track, but I have plenty of that, so I can deal with it. Now maybe I can set up that slot/train layout in the future.

I'm going to post more pictures in the slot car section, so you can see more of these slot Xvers there.

I made the billboards using promotional magnets and printing off some of the funnier signs from the internet on label paper

Have always wanted to see a slot/track layout. I tried fiddling with a slot set up paralleling the railroad right of way, but got discouraged by the incredibly poor quality of the slot cars- they suffered badly from poor electrical pick up and loosened up their drive gears rapidly. Additionally, they seem to travel at about 400 scale MPH making them almost invisible.
Perhaps there is a better manufacture of 1/87 slot cars, but I am ignorant as to whom.
Look forward to your posting your future slot/rail layout!!

Fooled you on the track it's Atlas Nickel Silver, painted with "rail brown". Unfortunately the joint of the two sections of layout is painfully obvious The water is Woodland Scenics, "Realistic Water" I think.... I poured it a couple years ago and it has formed some small bubbles on the surface since then. So I call them rapids

My accessory of the week, an atlas turntable with a motor. The shed enclosing the motor has been detailed and the turntable has been leveled with the track. Right now HB&T #42 is being turned around.

I've seen a few off-white cars, not common though. those are actually grey? Hard to tell in the lighting. Unusual if so.

Well, the whole idea with slot cars is to make them go F-A-S-T, not scale speeds. The fact that they all generally have 3-pole motors makes them awkward to use , as near-constant tapping by finger is needed to often get them moving, and with the 2-contact sliders, almost guarantees that the pick-up is highly dependent on super-clean track. The trick would be to make a more realistic motorized chassis for use at scale speeds, with geared-down motor. And add multiple pick-up points to increase power availability. I've seen miniature robot motors that would easily fit a slot car chassis, but the whole gearing thing would have to be undertaken as well. But I've also seen 1/64th scale geared-down motors and drives for experimental use in robots, too, I actually bought one last year to try to do something similar. Haven't gotten around to it yet, but it's a New Year, and anything is possible

If it's any condolence, you got to see/drive all of those cool vintage cars. Cars like that don't last long up north. I saw my first Gremlin today....that was exciting....
