Finally proof that I own at least one model. A gift from a friend on my birthday 3 years ago. A true friend, as this was a custom painted and detailed model of his favorite type engine. He has more of this type, but I know this was hard to part with. He knew my Texas & Rio Grande would exchange with the T&P at Pecos Tx and provided me with this engine,
A Sunset Models Texas & Pacific 2-10-4 # 610.

Shouldn't that say, "custom painted and DETAILED model?"
Very nice engine, indeed!

Tim Eckel is the modeler that detailed and painted the model. This model is by far the best model I own. Tim is a genius when it comes to the drive train, details, and finish on brass models. He is a machinist by trade, and is very picky about his models. I am proud to own this model and even prouder to call him my friend.

A gift?!!? Holy moly can I be his friend?! Beautiful model
I love my Model Power (Mantua Classics) Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 #4073. It's heavy, it's a good looker, runs fantastic, pulls like a beast, has LED lights for headlight and tender light, and doesn't have gear issues like my Mantua Classics 2-6-6-2.......overall one of my favorites

Ken, that's a classy looking engine. I've seen pictures of an engine that I think is what that one looked like right out of the box. If so, then this one is far better than new.

THAT is a good friend! Incidentally, I lived out in Pecos, TX for a year working for this prison. The town is laced with old, abandoned sidings that crisscross the remains of the city proper. Remainders of a time when rail was king. With natural gas well "fracking," the Pecos Valley Railroad does a little business with frac sand, but their "main line" is limited to maybe 5 MPH and a spotter hanging off the front of the ancient EMD switcher keeping an eye out for broken or collapsed rail. Pecos used to be a booming railroad town, now just an empty shell.

What a fascinating and unique model. Is it brass? Can't be AHM, Bachmann, or Tyco as it lacks the universal shaft coming from a tender motor. Nice piece, would love to see the layout it works on.

Here's my lotw-- a tiny brass 0-4-0, probably imported by Gem, but I don't know what manufacturer or prototype. Interestingly, it gets all current through the loco, and none through the tender.

I liked those AHM SD40s when they were first introduced. They had flywheels and actually ran pretty well for a low-priced loco.

My LOTW is this derelict Bachmann E60CF. I plan to swap the drive with an Athearn SD chassis. Needs a pantograph too.

That's a gorgeous loco you got there! All Athearn genesis models are beautiful. especially their f units. I'd LOVE to have an Athearn Genesis f3 in Maine Central paint.

I assume you're referring to the striping along the edge of the red warbonnet. If so, a very neat and clean job there!

the striping set was actually a Microscale set for a BNSF SD-70M. I had the set in my project inventory for years and the decals started to become brittle. I figured that I had better use them before they deteriorated beyond repair. I had these two geeps that had sentimental value, one was the first gift that my wife had ever given me for Christmas so it holds a place of honor in the collection. from the factory they lacked the yellow and black striping. I couldn't be more pleased with how they turned out! Even though the paint scheme is not correct for any of Santa Fe's GP-38s, the addition of the stripping gives them that finished look that helps lend to their plausibility.

If you hadn't said anything, I never would have known those units came from the factory without the striping. Nice engines and pictures too!
