Hey Barry. I got excellent prices on everything except the Gilbert 4-6-4. It I only got a good price. That Marx set was listed by its last 2 dealers at around $70. If it was on a on line auction it would have gone for that or more. I wasn't going to pay for a trainset full of cars that are the most produced cars by Marx. The only thing in that set worth anything is that ugly cheaply built tractor and trailer. That truck when people know what it is gets maybe a average price of $20. But stick it in a set of common cars and it balloons the set price. I was boxing my stuff to take it home and the second dealer came to me and want to know if I still wanted it. I got it for $35. that is what I offered for it at the last show the previous Sunday at Metuchen NJ. I thought I would get it then. I would not have gotten it for the price I paid if he had not gotten it for less. The Thomas car was 5, and the Jouef passenger car 8 each. They are about 75 foot cars with interiors. The Hudson I almost paid the 150 he was asking. I have been looking for that loco for awhile. The last few I have seen were missing the sound equipment in the tender, had no box, and they cost almost the same. The dealer was directly opposite my table all day at the show. It was there where I could see it all day. Well what is missing is info on how to make the whistle work. frank

Nope... The Walthers is a Gas-Electric Doodlebug. It is nice, but not the hidden gem. It is not in the Streamliner box either.

It is indeed the Mckeen Gas-Electric. Other than the one manufacturer who makes undercoated resin casts of the shell, I only know them to be produced in brass. This one looks to be a #24 Virginian and I suspect it is in brass. Apparently so did one other bidder whom I outbid because the price of the lot soared from $28 to $163, but even at that, I suspect this to be a $200 - $300 car alone. Here is an example of one:

funny thing is about this loco is It's more areodynamic running in reverse!
If I was the museum I would truck this to the V&T & run it there
The McKeen Motor Car Co was in Omaha, Nebraska So that's why most are in UP I would of wanted the IHC BN loco

I FORGOT TO SAY WHICH FORUM MEMBERS I MET AT THE TRAIN SHOW THIS WEEKEND. Well on Saturday Pete was there. He was looking for a door for one of his box cars. He didn't find one at out tables. He continued his search looking at other tables. * On Sunday wks made the show. He is real traveler and uses trains and buses to where he's going. He said he may be going to the Wayne NJ show next Sunday. It is not a big show and is mainly Lionel and Flyer, with some HO. I'll be going also so it may be hard to time when we both will be there. I'll take some pictures. frank

I finally cleaned out the guy with Marklin with a second ICE coach and the end plate for the one I'd had before. Bought that plus some assorted N scale for $35 from his helper on a -18 morning last Sunday and already have most of the N sold for $86. I'm doing better on that than the Kadee boxed cars I got weeks before. That vendor has a 1980s Con Cor Kato Japanese diesel I need to go back and buy.
I bought a bunch to flip at Springfield, too, although I made a couple errors there. But I found a Revell Missouri Pacific cattle car I'd never seen before and bought it to keep.

At the last Greenberg show, this one guy was selling boxcars where someone had cut out the names of candy bar's from the wrappers and had glued them on to the sides on the boxcars....
Never have seen that before.... that was a "Classic".....
BTW... They didn't sell.....

Hey,
I bought two of those cars at Wayne with the candy labels stuck on! My initial impression was ??????. But, at $2 each for a good frame and pair of trucks I thought it was worth it. The bodies look like they were dipped in orange paint, which BTW actually matched the "Reese's label orange, so they'll just go in the scrap yard for now.

That's.....creative I guess. If I had to do it diffrent, I would scan the wrappers, make decals and color match a little better. Those cars could have looked alot better.

A local show I picked up - a nice Tyco Shifter, Southern Pacific, plus caboose and about 8 cars for $20.
Boxed, red box Tyco "Main Central" boxcar Boxed, blue box Tyco Rutland boxcar (no end label)
A couple vintage tin crossings I need to ID. One looks like it's for Lionel or Marx but 2 rail - but is marked Made In Germany on the back. I didn't even realize until I got it home, at $2 for the bag it was a no brainer.
That was the best vintage stuff, also scored a hard to find Atlas C420 for about half the going price.

* Well J Saturday the place was packed with people. There were two shows going on at the same time. Both train shows. One, the Greenberg show, with its dealers selling everything from trains of all scales, old and new, to toys, and related stuff. the scenic touches, the electronics. There were large O and n scale layouts set up and running. Dealers were selling drones. Flying them around the crowed isles. Sooner or later some one will get hit by one . It probably has happened already. * The second show is a manufactures show with Kato, Athearn. Bachmann, MRC, Walters, Woodland scenes, Atlas and Broadway Limited. There was no entrance fee for this show and you could walk freely between both shows. * Got to get back there today. For all the people that were there and there were very many, most were just out for the day. Walking around with there families viewing what was going on. frank *

There was alot of junk.... Reagan Era pricing was in effect again! I got 3 Athearn "A-A" F7 sets, Two NP and one Rio Grande which I am keeping. All there were like new for $17 each set. The problem with this show and its high prices is that the show charges the dealers something like $72/table....
I did spend alot of time speaking with the rep's from Athearn, Atlas, Bachmann and Walthers. There might be some NJ Transit products coming out soon..... per the mfg'rs

I don't do Edison, too far, there's a show in Binghamton I do instead. I sold pretty well there, not a lot of take-home goodies, a few built buildings for stupid cheap, some N-scale stuff to flip, and some railroad paperwork.
It was a lot better than Scranton, where the sales were disappointing. I'm going to buy an LED light strip for the next one, I think part of the problem is it's so dark in the ballroom no one can see what I have out.
