Here's another project I finally dug out again, this past week I fixed the physical problems ( reversed truck wiring, some broken pick-up wires ), and got it to move on the track finally. What I have NOT been able to do is find out who made this engine. There are absolutely NO markings on the shell, inside or out, that I've seen, nor on the chassis, that indicate who made it. It's got dual powered trucks, with sealed can motors in the trucks powering them directly. I found this engine in the trash at a church day-care school over 15 years ago, maybe 20, and it wasn't new then either. Seeing as how I have a loop of track outside by my deck, thought I'd get it running so I'd have something besides steam to go round and round. I've Googled, gargled, and gnashed my way through some online searches, but can't find anything that looks this short and this particular model ( F40PH ? ) If you can help ID it I'd appreciate it very much.

Hi AMC_Gremlin_GT,

Maybe it's just me, but is there something stamped on the bottom of the coupler pocket in the last picture? Or is it just scratches?

I can't tell.

Hey, Thanks, Cat, that DEFINITELY is the loco I have, dual motor Amtrak. No doubt in my mind now. Awesome that you found that. I've been looking and looking, to no avail. AT least now I have something to go on in my searches.
