At the same October swap meet I picked up the 2 boxcars shown in COTW, I also got an Atlas Alco C-424 unpainted NIB for only $15.00 ! This one will become a Minnesota, Sioux Lake & Western-decorated prime mover over the winter (such as we have in FL... ):
It accepts Kadee-5's and runs (after a pre-oiling) like a new engine- which, it is!

I'll rub it in a bit- there were actually 2 of those unpainted C424's at the swap meet offered by the same seller- a fellow I deal with every few months. But my wife and daughter were with me that Saturday and they were waiting to go eat lunch....so, all I could get away with was one of them!

Ron,
you should have talked with the guy that had them to hold the second one, till you were able to get it to him.. I've done that in the past, specially if you deal with him a bit (have a sort of, business connection) things like that work out pretty good at times!
