These took several tries before I got them right.... Never again....
I have to find a dummy chassis or powered chassis for the B Units....
NJT never made a B Unit as far as I know.... They did have several F7 A Unit's on their roster.
Here is a pic of the real NJT F7 A Unit.....

My F7 A Units #411 & #415, F7 B Units #412 & #416

Nice paint work Pete. I hear ya on that "never again". Some things I've found to be quite fun and challenging . . . like spending a whole bunch of hours on a little shed and then realizing at that pace, the railroad will be completed after I'm dead. What the hell; nothing else to do.

They look fantastic! Out of curiousity what were the challenges that caused you to say never again? I'm guessing masking those three diagonal stripes so crisply took a few tries...

I use Testor's enamel paints. I also use Scotch Blue painter's tape fo rmasking the trin lines. Biggest problems: The tape pulls off some of the silver paint, therefore I have to re-shoot some sections. I used Microscale decals, including the stripes. Some shell I will have to use 2-3 sets of of the NJT Disco Stripes as they get air bubbles in them after putting on the decal set. Sometimes the ribbing and the rivets poke thru the decals. I have mastered taking a sliver of decal and covering the hole and blending it in. Everyonce in a while a silver fingerprint gets of the black top. Things happen like overspray, dirty paint npzzle contaminating a color, a finish spray is too dull, too glossy, some of the dullcoatings will get dirty from oils on your skin,.... The problem is I am a perfectionist.... If it doesn't meet my approval I do it over until it does. The Amtrak MoW #290 engine I did over 3x before it came out to my satisfaction. TIP: One can remove the decals with clear cellophane tape before the covering the finished shell with a clear overcoat.
I did a perfect NJT IHC GG1 shell Black top/ the rest was Aluminum. Decals were perfect. I sprayed it with a semi-gloss finished. For some reason one of the NJT striped decals bubbled up and I had to strip the shell and I am it the process of doing it again. UGH!!!
