Well shop tools, guys, I'll go first.... First up?
Safety....

Fully STOCKED First Aid.... in Railroad style!
Then the big machines:

my Unimat Machine Lathe....With all needed surroundings to go with it....
Then:

Same Machine, set up in its Milling Machine "wear".... This little machine, yes they cost a bit, BUT you can MAKE anything with them....Boilers, mill out side rods from metal I might add, EVEN turn metal round in shape, AND wood as well, I make my own "porch" spindles.....
Then.... You have storage, this is were it gets messy....

These shelves, are all aluminum....with rails integrated as part of them! They "round" 2 sides of that chimney....

The other side....
Then you got the REAL mess:

This "mess" is currently being cleaned up and organized all at the same time, as there is an expansioon going on, I found "new" un-used "space" hidden, behind a wall that had a "hole" just big enough to see in and its HUGE! 6 feet wide 7 foot 2 inches high, and aprox. 18 feet long!!!! SO, this mess, WILL be cleaned up once, I bust through add in a floor, and cover the "ceiling" with plastic, its insulation in the rafters for well self-explainitory....But the plastic to keep for getting "itchy" every time, in there.....And then the mess will clear out pretty quick as I have drawer organizers built to go into the "eves" of an attic, as this is just what this space is. has an "angled" ceiling, sort of....I'll be sure to make a post of the work!
BUT, if you look at this last picture, my real work bench "work horse" my Dremel, "Rotozip", made into a Flex Shaft Machine, suspended from the ceiling nearest my work bench.
Also notice, the work benches if seen are low to the ground, NOT standard height. Reason? Wall space! I wanted to mount as much as I possibly could to the walls and have had my shop sit up like that for 20 years if it stops there....The wall space, is used for all sorts of hanging things shelves, racks, you name it, I even hang stuff from the ceiling, like paint racks thats to sit on counter space, hangs upside down from the ceiling....I need to get pictures of this and show it.....
Come on guys, post some of your tools and to give a bit to those out there trying to get a "feel" of what they need, now granted, I jumped right in and posted a big tool, and no you don't need a metal lathe or a milling machine, BUT anyone here that knows of these machines knows they make a lot of things easier to do.....And I got to add, the little "Green Monster" Is NIICE to have!
I got a mess, and got to clean up a bit to even see some of my own smaller tools..... but I plan to post as I can so join right in guys!!!!
Any home made stuffs used as tools in our GREAT hobby?

John, You got nice tools. You defiantly got better tools than I have. I got one atlas snap saw, Exacto knife, files, hand drills, screw drivers, tweezers, and soldering iron. I have a dremill tool which I use mainly for cutting. And for when things get tough a few different size hammers and hack saw. When things go bad, which they often do, a garbich can. My own special one. Out of all my stuff the garbich can gets used the most. frank

Frank, Yeah, I got a few nice ones, not even seen here, as of yet.... I got more when I have the chance to post. (I got another metal lathe, that's bigger), and then I got an old Dremel wood lathe, that was bought brand new in the box.... NEVER opened! Which amazes me, as I can't figure out why.... it dates to 1975....
Plus then all the miniature wood shop tools, chop saw, band saw, yeah a few of them.....BUT they are "out" when needed away when not.....But, as clean up and organizations happens...
What might that be Ben?

Ah, a Unimat. I have one, but I'm missing many of the lathe specific parts for it. My Aunt had it for some years, I'd loaned it to her, and when she wasn't able to live on her own, I repo'ed it from her farm before it got snitched. It needs the rubber belts, but it should still work as a drill press and other uses. Wouldn't mind finding parts to use the other functions, I think I had them, but never found them at my aunt's farm again, just the machine a few pieces for it. Anyone know if parts are available for it still? I also have a scroll saw, usable, a bandsaw, not at the moment, and a few other.

Jerry, the Unimat is a expensive little guy let me tell you, in the shape mine is in, Almost 100% original and VERY WELL taken care of, its got ALL its parts too, and hundreds of bits lathe and milling machine parts, EVEN the dividing plate and all that....I would say just the machine is worth a bit, but complete, is un heard of these days... you can get parts from Ebay for yours, even the belts! BUT be sure they come from a guy that specializes in the Unimat replacement belts the rest aren't as well made and don't last nearly as long!
Hyde, That C.P. Huntington, was trade (an old picture) to our very own CatfordKen! [LOL} He now is enjoying its presents on his layout.......
This is only a bit of the set up, more to come!!!!!
