My boss at the train shop gave? this to me last week, I hadn't seen this version before, and since I have about 17 Purina cars I've run at shows before, this will go great as a nice siding industry. Wonder how rare this Purina conveyor set is? Kinda crazy that is uses crates instead of grain, but I guess less messy for kids. LOL!

Cool accessory! The use of crates is certainly interesting. I'd love to see someone do one up in a post company's paint scheme (UPS, FedEx, etc...,) and just have the conveyor dumping crates/parcels from 20ft in the air into a waiting gondola. It probably wouldn't be too far-fetched from how real mail is handled...

Reminds me of a couple of jokes concerning the word "fragile":
- It's UPS for "kick me!"

I wonder if anyone makes decals, small enough to fit on those crates, with the Hercules Dynamite label.

CRATE DECALS: The "warning" sign on the side of this tower is from a copy of the decal sheet that was posted on eBay. I "saved" the photo of the decal sheet and then cropped it, printed it and then copied it reduced size to get it to fit the spot where it is posted. The warning sign was then just Elmer's glued to the plastic and sprayed with dull coat.

Sounds like someone is being dumped on, here. Hopefully he won't get down in the dumps...then again,he's always looking for recycling material, so he goes there I'm sure!

Well I can't top the Dumpster-cam, but here is my gravel-loader. It provides a lot of freight business on my RR.

Speaking of liking colors, I like the paint job on Redwoods' loader. It really fits with the look of a gravel quarry.

rgcw5 - What was on the loader before you modified it? Another modification my friend suggested was to put a motor on or in it to run the belt I won't do that to mine

it was actually THREE loaders that were bits and pieces put together from various swapmeets!
sadly the conveyor was shot but someone here mentioned the lionel conveyor belt slightly trimmed
This one was motorized as all the gears on the platform was shot, so I used a straight rod tied into a brass tube, hooked up to a hexdriver bit into a cheapo sears power screwdriver
the "deflector" was built with some leftover bridge pieces from my Bailey bridge project and a tyco bulkhead flatcar

Ray, I can remember seeing pictures posted of that arrangement with the power screwdriver and the conveyer as it was being built. I assume that was a past posting of yours?
Anyway, I like the idea of using the screwdriver as a nice low speed, high torque motor.

I've seen side dump cars like that hauling large boulders out of a quarry at the upstream end of the Royal Gorge. There's an operation called Rock and Rail that serves the quarry. Those large rocks are probably a more authentic load than properly scaled gravel or coal. The McKeesport Coal Company name is maybe a little anomalous, though.

Well fella's the McKeesport could have also been McKeesport, Pennsylvania. and how do I know? I used to live just about 100 miles from McKeesport , PA. and not that there was a coal field there, BUT was a "area" and could have been the base for it as the steel mills weren't all that far away in Pittsburgh, PA!!!!!
BUT Ken too has a pretty good thought regarding this car and the orange Cleckheaton car.....
