First off, I am not one to like to heavily modify equipment, nor am I skilled at it. I recently bought a Rock Island Tyco shark nose diesel for parts. I am using the headlight lens and airhorn on my 1959 all metal mantua shark nose in UP paint. I bought the Rock Island shark for 10 bucks and broke it all down to parts, but then it sat there looking lonely. Sure it was a really common Tyco offering but the clean shell looked sad sitting there. I grabbed a model power F2 I had sitting on the layout and pulled the shell off and bam perfect fit. Snipped off the side frames, super glued the TYCO side frames on, added a different headlight lens and even stole the horn off the model power. Yea, it's not an authentic Tyco but if I want to let something run around for hours I don't have to worry about burning up one of my prized engines. Anyone else had similar sucess? And for my original power torques, will they all eventually Burn up if ran? Maybe I should make new stand in chassies to run my TYCO shells to save wear on the power torques. my last shark went under a Athearn F-7 chassis with some decent results...then I swapped sideframes from an S-12... just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader
