Is that the same car in both pictures, John?

My COTW is this wood gondola:
It's under frame, trucks, couplers, etc. are from an old MDC tie-rod box car, and is die-cast metal for weight. The body is made of individual boards cut from a sheet of 1/32" sheet balsa wood. The brake wheel is by MDC. Bolt heads are little drops of glue.
The car is built as an empty and loaded with loose coal, which can be removed for the empty trip back to the mine. It and two others serve a factory with a coal pile. Said factory is partially visible in the picture.
The bodies from the donor box car were later put on home made under frames made to look like the steel under frame with which tie rod box cars were sometimes rebuilt.

Tyco Oscar Mayer
I think this car is more detailed than the ones that others made Doritos by Life-Like!

That's a great model, Shaggy! Right down to the hand-lettered reporting marks! And that's a creative way to make bolt heads; I'll have to remember that. I feel for the poor souls who have to unload that coal...one shovelful at a time!

What you really needs is a Coca Cola car, instead to go with your Oscar Mayer and Doritos cars. Who drinks coffee with hotdogs and chips, anyway?

Love the Maxwell cars ESP the hopper. Not excited over the whistling billboard though. I have these two cars and will be getting all of my train stuff out of storage , starting in a few days...

Thanks Ben.... I'll keep my eyes from a 7Up Plant for my layout....
And Walt, I second that notion, I too DRINK Maxwell House Coffee and would LOVE to have a covered hopper to add to the fleet of "edible item cars within my kitchen!
