Well, my Bachmann 4-4-0 is now back together, at least until I decide to disassemble it again, so thought I would let it debut as a Locomotive of the week. I took nearly as long to relern how to upload photos as I took to fix rthe engine, so I hope they come out

This is the prize, sitting in front of a depot I won on Ebay a while back

A bottom view, showing the tender current pickup assemblies. I made them from brass shim stock, after the phosphor bronze gave me problems, and soldered nickel silver strips to aid in current pick up. A couple of them are visible sticking out beyond the brass strips. also visible in this view is the locomotive grounding wiring, which includes the pilot wheels. I don't have any headlight at this point, but 19th century headlights never had enough illumination to keep anybody fro tripping over the family cat, anyway.
I guess I'm not going to upload any more photos - I can't get any cooperation from my computer

Love the "sprung" tender Archbar trucks!!! VERY nice touch I might say!

Old Bachmann model? It looks like it. Then you look at the motor between the tender trucks makes you think of an old Rivarossi too!

Yeah, it's an old Bachmann engine. I probably wouldn't have messed with it so much, but it's a neat little engine. Runs good, too. I guess I uplosded enough photos to get across what I did to make it run, anyway. I'd love to build a 19th Century layout using this engine and a few others as the star performers. I'd still like to see Bachmann offer this engine in S scale.

I've also got some 28" wheelsets coming. I think the 33" Bachmann's look a little large. The 33" wheeels make it necessary to raise the tender to clear the motor. The archbar trucks themselves were an afterthought after the original Tender trucksides became unserviceable. I can't find another set, thus the Kadee archbars. I had an old pair of AHM unsprung trucks that worked well, too, so if I ever find an old time pair of those, I might try them again.

I've learned a lot working on this little engine. It'd been fun, for sure.

This LOTW is getting interesting, so I decided to post a photo of my J.W.Bowker 2-4-0. I bought this locomotive last summer as one of my first purchases. I had to fabricate a new driveshaft for it, which was pretty easy, and now it runs like a champ on my 3' of flextrak

I also changed out the tiny caster wheels for some Bachmann 33" wheels. I will put 28" wheels in it, whenever they show up

I hope the photo comes out comes out. By the way, I'm on my XP desktop, which explains my signature

Nice locomotives and that Clarksville Station makes a neat backdrop.
