My "LOTW" is an AHM Boeing Trolley. It's sort-of a locomotive.

Love that LRV Boeing, Redwoods! I have a couple myself. Does it run? I need to work on mine. Anyway, sort of doing a Way-back machine today, the Peabody from AHM, a nice little 0-6-0 steam loco that I recently liberated from boxed storage. Will put it up on my display shelf for now.

It does run Jerry, but poorly. I will most likely replace the motor, but that's a job for another day. I need to build a trolley loop first.

Mine hasn't arrived yet but I bought a Hobbyline 0-4-0T that does run, not the cheap plastic static kit version. Bought it off a friend for $15. Will likely repaint the boiler silver. Can't wait!

That is a nice 4-6-0. I wonder if that is factory paint? It's fascinating how many different color schemes and road names Tyco-Mantua applied.

Thanks Ray! It runs really well too.... it was a one off in my locale of residence as I'm in New England, its rare to see Chessie here so...... it sat for a while and then I got a chance to take it off the shelf, as it was in a place that does "trading" and all sorts.... The owner of the joint owns all the trains and does consignment on everything else. And, I took in a few things he was interested in and got a pretty good price for trade....Came home with the Chessie, and a few others....But, the Chessie was the best of the "lot"

Keepin' the tank'd thing goin'! My future TC&CF steamer, a re detailed AHM steamer (a lot buy). Cal scale bell, whistle, and drop grabs. A caboose ladder from a Tyco, Mantua "new" 0-6-0T compressor and a back shop special tender hatch and custom cab grab irons and the work by me!. Was a Peabody some time ago!

Have you tried the Bachmann GPs? They are not big on details but they run well and look great. They are also available at great prices. I plan to get all the roads they have.

Ray, I have tried the Bchmann Geeps, I actually want a Chessie that they offer and the B&O.....I don't own any, yet, but as time passes and money allows, I will!!!!
I have a set of the Bachmann B&O FT-A, and the FT-B, and have to say, they are good runners so, I can't imagine the rest otherwise....
Whats got me currently, is their steamers!

Ken - Chris I Had a set of Proto Erie Warbonnet A units. They ran and looked really good. I gave them to a friend for his birthday. I have a a Proto DL109 that is neat looking and runs great. My friend has a set of Proto E's that have had truck side frame problems. But for the most part the Proto 6 axle units do well.

it's actually an "SW-12" as the long hood is from an Athearn SW-1200, just one of those crazy projects like a lot of us have

Ray, You done some serious hacking on that one then! WOW! An Athearn S-12, cab and sill, and a Athearn SW-1200/1500? as the long hood? With radiators added near the cab....AND the light has been doubled! NICE!

John more than just serious hacking, that "radiator" near the cab is actually dynamic brakes
story goes like this: PE had a branch to lake arrowhead for the sole purpose of hauling....you guessed it Arrowhead water! When PE finally rebuilt new water cars for the line it was decided a locomotive with dynamic brakes was needed. Enter the SW-12!

That's some interesting work. Question, those tank cars, all full of water? For what purpose? Drinking or?
Interesting, shortline/business to supply revenue for whatever local railroad!
Dynamic Brakes on a switcher, now that's different! Specially an old one!

Yup Arrowhead drinking water! As the story goes, the reason the line was shut down wasn't the lack of product but the maintenance of the cars!
So obviously in the modeling world, PE would've replaced the aging cars with newer ones. the three Im working on will reflect that (hey Brewdoggs beer's claim to fame is it's clean Arrowhead water)
Yup some switchers did have a dynamic brake option here's one of, ironically, a Baldwin switcher

Ray, that's awesome! A Baldwin S-8 you go therewith Dynamic Brake to boot!
Do you know if all the switchers used for that water supply were Baldwin? (I favor Baldwin, from my steam loco connections!)
VERY interesting!

Actually I dunno if PE used any diesels on the branch prior to the SP absorption but they did use Westinghouse steeplecabs (a Baldwin product). Now when SP ran it, I'm pretty sure it was whatever switcher was available at the time.

Was this all done around the time of transition from Steam to diesel then? Its sounds that way! And then electrics must have been "different" for the area and time frame, I'm sure!
