I sure hope I'm posting this correctly. Thought it might be good to see some new photos in this set of the week section. This isn't a new set; just stuff I keep messin' with. Like, I've been thinking of getting after those Roundhouse Overton baggage and combination cars for a spell now (maybe painting the doors a different color; maybe window glazing; removing the crazy ladder that just ends up under the roof, maybe repainting them a yellow ochre color - supposedly some of the second class cars, if I've got this straight, were painted that color? Could be a colorful consist with Tuscan and Ochre cars.). The brass cars are ongoing as well. Presently, I just finished getting the couplers and trucks more workable and presentable.

Showed up fine for me John. Pretty cool. I haven't moved into any DCC stuff yet, so that sound business continues to amaze me.

Should be "fixed" now.....Go have a look guys...... yes, so that you all know I painted those cars.....AND the layout, I don't own its my Clubs layout.....I'm the Vice President of it....and we do 2 fun runs a month.....UNLESS, we have a show to attend! Then work is done till we're ready as its a modular club......

Thanks guys!!! I got another one from that run, (I railfanned the clubs layout...) You now seen it climb the mountain, headed north, now its decline still going north, headed into town, just behind the camera, is a railroad crossing.....AND its opening up onto the near flatland run.
ENJOY.. same trainset!

Nice video John. Fun to watch. I'm wondering about the DCC sound, though. Is the "chug-chug" supposed to match the driver movement?

Barry, I can't remember.....See, when I first got the EM-1, it was set to the factory default, and I can't remember if I had set it right when I did these video's, I actually spent 8 hours over the span of a few days when my hand was broke to "program" the loco. It has some serious sound effects, that were turned down I had to turn up the volume and you know, I don't believe, it was done, when I done these! I do plan however, to re-do these video's.....
But, your questions of sound, yes, the chuff rate, would have to be "doubled" as there is 2 sets of cylinders, "chuffing".....So, it would have 8 chuffs instead of four, which makes it sound as though its moving fast, when it isn't BUT, that also adds the varying, sounds that accompany this. One of such is the "bearing down" as tho the loco is actually working and working hard, this, brings out the sound of the boiler straining, and the deeper chuff rate, and it sounds AWESOME! This all makes the pumps sound better too! Plus, you have the extra rod clank too!
All this, can be heard now.... so I will be adding better video's of this, the only thing I had changed when the video was done was the chuff rate as it was originally set to 73, it needed more chuffs, so, I played till it sounded right, now, its at 168...That CV made a big difference BUT you have to set the chuff rate lower on the decoder when run in old school Analog.
