I got 3 of these recently through Ebay, this one only had running gear, all are missing steam chests, etc. But some nice brass parts. A friend thought maybe Mantua, but I can't be sure, the pictures in the Literature seems to show the front boiler as shorter, I don't know for sure. Help appreciated making a maker known. Thanks !

Looks to be an Aristo-Craft...does it say "New One" on the bottom?

No, no text anywhere, not even inside the shell. I took the entire drivetrain apart, the motor has a bent shaft and is very tight to turn as well. Won't run with power applied, but will turn over slowly. Lemme go look at that Aristo-craft Lit then....

It's Aristo Craft by New One. I have 2 of them, and one says "New One - Tokyo Japan," while the other has no markings.

IIRC that one was by New One but sold by Silvine rather than Aristo Craft.
HO Seeker has the catalogs posted, though, if you want to check there.

Under Literature in HOSeeker.net, there is a New One(s), plural. Nothing there for an 0-4-0. Is that the same as New One? Aristo Craft, same deal, there is no 0-4-0 listed at all under any of the varied makers under Aristo-craft. And no Silvine at all in the listings. Strike-out. Got anything else? But thanks for the ID, at least I know what it is now. But without you guys, I'd never identify it, as it's not in the Literature listings anywhere I looked.

Ok, just to be stubborn, I went LOOKING for this picture, and finally found it under the Aristo Craft Catalogs section, ALL the way at the bottom Of course, since there's no mention of this at the top, or any mention of 0-4-0, why would I want to look in the catalogs section? Sometimes this Literature search is needle-in-a-haystack if you DON'T know where to look for stuff. But yup, that's it alright. Thanks, Ken! You're awesome.

LOL!
Sorry I missed this. Definitely an Aristo Craft/New One Model. With any and all New One Model locomotives, you're extremely lucky if you find one that is not suffering in some way from the dreaded zimax crystallization, (rot).

| Actually it's not too hard to find an intact one of these for around $25-$30. That's without a box. Whether or not it will run is another story.

Old topic, but if anyone needs the running gear for a New One 0-4-0, check the Trading Post! </shameless plug>
