I have noticed numbers on some of the tyco engines i have taken apart to fix. These numbers are usually found on rear trucks of locomotives. The one pictured below is from a Tyco Chessie f unit. i will post more photo's of numbers on different loco's as i come across them. My guess is these are what factory they were produced at-Anyone know what they mean??

This number is on a brand new smoking Royal Blue steam engine. The numbers on steam if they have them are located under cab

I have seen those numbers too. Only on Gen. I Powertorques - identified by the solid-frame on the pickup truck.
I don't immediately recall what the numbers were. I know at least one of them, used black stickers instead of red.
I assumed it was an employee or a batch number or something - "This PowerTorque was inspected by #371" [:D]

It was probably quite painstakingly hectic sticking them on...
Cavity Number, Mold Number
or Mold Number, Department Number.
Ever seen numbers on the backs of plastic utensils? If a certain mold number was defective, instead of checking every peice, you just throw out the ones with that particular mold number.
Well, with a two year degree on Quality Assurance...that's my guess.
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
