Hey guys:
Did I read somewhere that the current IHC SD24 is a Tyco mold unit?

You might have read it here on the forum and I also include a reference on the SD24 page of the TYCO Resource...yes the IHC model is based on the TYCO tooling for the SD24.
I have a couple examples of this recent IHC run. The IHC SD24 is all-wheel driven and does run fine. The paint jobs are interesting as they usually are from IHC. I have the purple and silver Atlantic Coast Line and the blue and gray Missouri Pacific SD24's.

I also have a pair of the IHC SD24s. They run really well once you add about 5 oz of weight. Straight out of the box, the locos are too light in weight. There just isn't enough down force on the wheels. Once I added 5 oz inside, the locos ran smoother and the 12 wheel drive was able to do some pulling. The increased down force also improved the electrical pickup.
