Guys, As you all know, I deal with A LOT of Articulated steamers, and get them regularly....I just thought of something...
ALL the 2-6-6-2's I have, are Mantua (YES, I know I'm under TYCO here) BUT, my question is this, TYCO made a lot of locomotives that Mantua did, or well as it seems, all but the 2-6-6-2! Is this wrong? OR am I right that Mantua only made the 2-6-6-2, and TYCO never got into making articulated "Mallets"?
Interesting....
Can anyone enlighten me here on this one?

Tyco never ever make a mallet. Just the average 0-4-0's and 0-6-0's, a 4-8-0, 4-6-0 4-6-2 and 2-8-2, 4-4-0 and 2-6-2 and some diesels that were MU-2 before Tyco created the PT.

Justin, That's what I thought. I didn't think they did its just that it seemed that TYCO made a lot of the same that Mantua did.....TYCO didn't get into the 10 couple either......They didn't make the 0-10-0 or 2-10-0, or even the 2-10-2, as Mantua did......

Hey John. The biggest steamer Tyco catalogued was a 2-10-4 (the Texas). It never made it into production though. http://www.ho-scaletrains.net/steamengines/id11.html

Cheez, That's what I mean....They never produced over a 8 couple! Cataloged a 10, this one BUT, never seen the light of day as a 3D model.....
Mantua could have tho.... that 2-10-4 would have been a GREAT model by Mantua with the PRR cab and tender....look at the cab windows, they would have had to make a "new" cab to fit the boiler as you know they would have used the Mantua "Heavy" boiler instead of the one pictured!
I almost bet the design would have been a Mantua 2-10-2 frame with an added 4 to the trailing truck kind of like what they did to the 2-8-2 to make it a 2-8-4, and that would have been a 2-10-2, added 4 to the trailing truck to make it a 2-10-4.....Interesting concept tho, I must add!
AND it be possible too! RIGHT NOW! You got a 2-10-2 frame and a Berkshire trailing truck?

Ugghh...that's not the same at all
This definitely would've been one of the coolest steamers Tyco made (had it been made that is). I'm sure there's a Tyco prototype floating around somewhere

See, with this question on TYCO making the 2-6-6-2, I had a local guy argue to me that TYCO did in fact make the 2-6-6-2, and did it longer then Mantua!
Then, I pulled out all the stops, I took every "Mantua" 2-6-6-2 I had off the shelf, out of the boxes, where ever I had them and said listen, look for "TYCO" written ANYWHERE on any of these models, I BET you won't find it!
So, sure of him self, he looked over and over, then he asked me if I had parts.... SURE, you can look at those too!
In the end, I was right and knew I was but after this little go around, I second guessed myself as I never recalled TYCO EVER making one!
Was always Mantua, and because of the forums here and the "information" everyone has, and me second guessing myself, I had to ask just to be "sure"...
Speaking of that 2-10-4......Has anyone ever seen what it was like inside as far as mechanics? OR is the catalog pictures all that exists of it?

| Given the dies went to Mantua I would presume it had the same type of drive as the other Tyco/Mantua steam engines.
