This one does appear to have come from the Tyco tooling, but has no identifying markings on it: The livery doesn’t appear to be decals but could be dry transfers or something else other than tampo printing, because the logo looks to have some thickness to it. So I don’t know if this is a factory scheme or somebody’s custom work.

. . . And here is the “Find of the Day” - Tyco’s alternate Silver Streak scheme on the F9:
Unfortunately, it’s missing the rear step on the other side. I need to make this one a runner!

I found the Silver Streak shell at a train show in Fort Mill, SC this past weekend, but for some reason I didn’t have the presence of mind to also look for another Tyco F with a drive train I could appropriate.
And I bought the shell along with about half a dozen other pieces of rolling stock, and a bag of tiny Tootsie Toys and other small vehicles, for $25 total.

I got a Mobil example of the Tyco triple dome tanker:
This completes my Tyco triple dome collection. As is obvious from this picture, it is not perfect, but I couldn’t pass it up for $2. Besides, the lone KayDee coupler is probably worth the $2 price tag, which makes the car free!

I have one and it flickers. One of the wheels that picks up current for the light bulb has half the tread metal and the other half plastic so that the light blinks as the car rolls down the track.

So, I recall GoingInCirclez (Tony Lucio) saying on one solitary occasion that someone else told him about having a Tyco Swift reefer error car when he was a child - a third-hand rumor if ever there was one!
I don’t think such a car exists . . .

I went to Hilltop Hobby Shop in Akron, Ohio today and scored some good stuff to push me down the slope even further! First up is this Rivarossi quad:
It’s most likely identical to the AHM EL Hopper just a few posts before this one, except for “Rivarossi” being molded into the underframe instead of “AHM.”

About a month ago my wife came across a local Craig’s List ad for a collection of Bachmann, Life-Like and Tyco: 7 locomotives, 26 freight cars, bridge & trestle sets, telegraph poles, road signs, billboards, structures, etc. for $200. Now $200 was a good deal for just the locos and cars, never mind the rest of it, but what caught my eye was this:
First time I’ve stumbled across these in the wild, and they look mint. (Not the boxes though!) Turns out the whole set was there:
This also happened to be there:
A complete Life-Like Campbell’s promotional set, also mint. I find this set interesting because Life-Like appears to have sourced it from different places; in addition to the typical Life-Like friction bearing trucks, there are also two different types of roller bearing trucks, and the two 40ft boxcars are different from each other — one is the typical former Varney car but the other is a different design with a separate roof walk.
There was also a Bachmann Purina promotional set:
I don’t know what else might have come with this set so I don’t know if I have all of it or not.
Finally, some Life-Like Good & Plenty promotional equipment:
I don’t know if the Lynde car goes with this set or not, but I know this set isn’t complete. So now I have more cars to find!
