Does anyone know how it works if it is speed controlled or not. I have one in a NYC PT tender and im figuring if its already in why not use it. It works just very fast and loud any ideas on how its controlled

Does it change with the voltage/throttle? ( I am assuming you are using DC) Do you have a pic of the circuit?

I'm sure it's just a primitive white noise circuit that is turned on and off by contacts on one axle closing a set of wipers once or twice every revolution. That's the way they put sound in the early Heavy Hauler G scale 4-6-0's, and the circuit was powered by a 9 volt battery. It was bloody annoying, to be honest, with no volume control. It should also be four chugs per driver revolution.

You have one in a PT tender, so I assume you mean Powertorque? Someone installed it in a Tyco 0-8-0 or 2-8-0?
