| Ken, sure looks like the "Cab Forward" casting made by Kemtron for the Varney Lil Joe. It was to make gimick cab forward out of the little 0-4-0 dock sider. Gary

Gary's got it. hit the nail right on the head. Kemptron. But yours is a cast metal copy. Kemptron made brass and plactic. Is the something wrong with the pilot. It seems to have no bottom v shaped bar to tie all those pilot spokes together. Cant see it in the photo. frank

That Cab-Forward part was actually designed by Kemtron to make a Mantua 0-4-0 a Cab Forwards! I think however, Dan over at Yardbird Classic Trains also has castings of the same part, just not in brass/bronze as the original but in Zinc, or Antimony Allow (which is also solderable)
Nice find Ken!

Not so sure if it was meant originally for the Mantua or Varney Lil Joe first, but they look great on either.
Here are some of mine:

You know me Ken... I can't seem to have just one! I must have 5-6 more of those cab forward pieces scattered about too! As for the Dan Bush diecast version, you can see a new in the package one in one of the photos as well as the one on the Mantua 0-4-0.

| Looks like brass or bronze to me in the initial picture. Also looks like it was made to go right on the Dockside shell.
