TYCO RED ROOF SILVER STREAK ALCO 430 - IN MINT CONDITION - This red roof version is a later run production in the Silver streak locomotives -approximately mid 79 -80 - The Chrome roof was beginning issue in 1978. I can remember the store sets in 1978 having the all chrome locomotive and also in 1979 - then i remember seeing the red roofs around Christmas 1979 and 1980 as use to drool over these sets as a kid - never got one though from Santa at that time

Nice 430, man!
Here's mine, a Bowker I picked up at a train show in Reading, PA. I'll probably re-flag her as Lancaster & Reading for my compact layout.

Correct Ken, Tyco and Lionel wanted some flash on their steamers.

Hey Guys!
Been gone for a while! I had ACL knee surgery on the 16th of Jan and it has been slow going since. While I was off work and laying in bed, I spent a lot of time listing and selling on eBay. I did buy a lot too, but there was not too much special that I did buy. One item I did purchase was the following:
Mantua ~1939 per-WWII all brass 2-8-0 Consolidation steam locomotive:

So now this makes 2.5 that I have in my collection. It is a super rare piece that was never produced following the war. This locomotive does not look bad for being nearly 74 years old! That's almost as old as my dad!
Here is my other consol:

Here is my Phase 1 TYCO/Rivrossi ICG Super 630 I won a a few weeks ago on The Bay". I was a little mad when I got it because it had a tab broken and the coupler housing was broke. Luckly I got another housing, but I could not do anything about the broken tab which cannot be seen since it one of seven tabs that hold the shell to the body. Other than that, I love thia thing because it is in GREAT condition, even better that my Phase 1 Santa Fe, which, until I got this on was my favorite C630.

Is the Santa Fe and this one the only two Phase 1's?

** A Louisville and Nashville Railroad Berkshire. A model built in gem 1961 and WS 1971. Sold by Gem and Westside. Both made by Katsumi of Japan. Photos seem to be identical . I have 2 not sure who made either one. Westside "G" file #25

This is 1 2-8-4. Mantua made some of them. The one they didn't bring out was a 2-10-4 Texas type. frank

GG1, hopefully your Ph I runs better than mine, all the universals were cracked and the motor was iffy...
just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

Both of my Phase 1's run like rocks, they look fantastic, but there rocks on rails! There just not smooth runners like the third gen C630 are. I'm not mad about it because I did not buy them to run, only to show.
