These are three conversions I've done over the years. The 2-6-0 is based on the Mantua Little Six. I added a can motor, pilot deck, and pilot wheels as well as detail parts. The Box Cab is a Cary/Bowser shell mounted on an AHM Center Cab frame and mechanism with Athearn stanchions and handrails added. The Union Freight is another AHM Center Cab with Athearn stanchons and handrails.

I especially like the boxcab and the steam engine. All the details on them look great!

Awesome work, Cary! Those little AHM Center Cabs do make great project starting points, as a few other members have shown. The bottom picture looks so good it make me want to get out the cutters and and add some Athearn stanchions to my own.

A friend asked what can motor I used. I used kit #160 from Helix Humper. The kit can be obtained from Alliance Locomotive Products. Here is the URL for Alliance

| The loco is a great runner once you get it finished. Well worth the effort!

E8a Fuel tanks could you use a modified set from a Tyco E7? Maybe order 2 FT/F7 Bachmann tanks and splice them and cut the trim from an F-Unit body.? Regrards John

Ken, if you can tolerate plastic, the fuel tank from the Model Power / Roco E-units is easily removed. It's just a friction fit on the frame.
You could spray it gold.
