Ok as some know I am working on a little Six engine which I kinda fallen in love with (ironic) and I am going to repaint it either a nice black or try in my Road colours...
now here where I need help with I am working on getting the motor working again which as far as I can tell I am successful with, however while slow ly running it in to try and remove the gunk and free the parts and get her freshly appplied grease on the gears (worm and drive) her guide rod slide thing broke, and bent so I am wondering if there is a way to replace the drive wheels and all parts or if maybe someone has spares that they don't need, or if I could harvest parts off another loco to get this one going again...
anyways thanks for the help and I will post pictures of the engine if needed when I get home (or just look at my other thread about it)
NOTE: the pictures are old shots and were taken before the damaged part was found/damage happened, these are before I did the clean out relube/oil

It doesn't look broken Jim; I think it just needs reassembled. Which; can be one of those jobs where you wish that you had three hands to hold everything.

the pics are just for showing the loco, the piece thats bent/broken is the slide rod area that goes in the big hunk of metal at the front, I haven't taken a picture of the wheels yet, these are old shots

I'd say, don't bother with that piston rod... Keep the drive wheel rods and paint the locomotive sky blue... grind the boiler face somewhat flat, paint a bright-looking face on it... put a #2 on the cab-side and name it Tibby...
...TYCO, long lost exported twin to Thomas. Tyco had it's chassis and cylinder assembly modified to suit a private US rail company that needed a "very useful" sodor-type shunter.
The US exported Baldwin 0-6-0's to the UK and Europe for the W44 effort. This forum is for fun and learning.

The valve guide isn't properly situated, don't know if that's known but the valve gude is supposed to tightly sit between the frames stick out arms and the cylinders.

Kinda off topic, but after I watched it, I figured that you want to see the history of the SP AC's.
sorry if I was out of line.

I'm pleased to see that others enjoy fixing up Mantua/Tyco engines. I've been doing so since the 1970s. This is my version of Mantua's Little Six. I've basically added detail parts, a new pilot deck and pilot truck. It runs very well as do all of my Mantua/Tyco engines!

Cholmes, that looks great! It even has whistle & bell ropes. I recently picked up what turned out to be a 1986 Mantua issue of one of these. Sturdily built, but I was surprised at the poor 5 wheel pickup. You can't depend on a blind center driver making contact. If I keep it I will be adding a wiper for the rear insulated driver.

If I remember correctly, all you need to do is connect it to the frame. Alliance does have an instruction sheet you can download before you purchase it.

Nice work on that loco. Lots of great ideas too. You may want to think of adding the complete valve gear set, it adds a very nice touch.

Jim, I searched through all of my running gear parts and I do not have the replacement for the broken piece that you have. I thought certainly I would, but no luck.
