I bought this lot of junk tonight for a buy-it-now option eBay for $4.99. Just what is the Lackawanna F-unit? Can't tell if its Varney or AC Gilbert material:

I guess I could call this a impulse purchase! At least I got a some what complete diesel, a power torque and some odds and ends.

Looks like you got a pair of Tyco Redbox dummy trucks. I really like that Gilbert unit. Post some pics if you can when you get it

Lackawanna F3 was Gilbert only. I have a shell for one that needs a drive.

Justin : It will help for drive parts that you know Gilbert and varney parts for the F3s are mostly the same. You can repair the front truck with varney parts. it will look and work fine. The only thing that made it gilbert is the steel plate on the bottom of the rear truck. It had the gilbert info on it. I have seen Gilbert F3 with varney drives.
Dont wory about the money. I'm just glade I could help.

I see the rear side frames and drive shaft are missing. Hope I can find some parts!

Showed up today. Everything ran real good! The c-liner has a chipped pilot, still a good runner, the PT ran. The AC engine only needs the rear side frame assy. and drive shaft. I think its well worth the effort to refurbish and have the shell re-painted to match the factory scheme! Anybody got parts for it?
