Everyone, Sorry I have not been around....I've been cursed with computer issuesand I'm going by the seat of my pants as I type this out!
Anyway, HOPEFULLY, by the end of the week, I'll have a new computer as the 2 systems I've been going back and forth with, one is 12 years old, and the other is I believe 7 years old.....
SO, needless to say, its time for a new system.....As I can't seem to "update" either of them any more.... and right now, I'm using the 12 year oolld one with Windows XP.....The other one thats 7 years old or so....Is running Windows Vista!
So, if all goes well.......I'll be around on and off till I get the new system!

Have you thought about trying a Linux distro for one of your machines? 12 years is PHENOMENAL for a modern computer. Still, a copy of Ubuntu could keep it going for a while yet until the hardware finally gives out. Linux isn't only for the tech-savy nowadays. The Ubuntu distro is very user-friendly and the interface is really nice too. I'd be glad to walk you through the process.
P.S. I just recently got a laptop with a dead hard drive from a former classmate. I bought a new hard drive and put Ubuntu on it. When it's turned off and I press the power button, I can be browsing tycoforums 30 seconds later!

Well guys....I'm back! with a new computer.....it showed up at my door step, tonight, by UPS!
Had just gotten off the phone with another board member when the delivery guy was knocking! good timing!
With that said.....I have a much worse issue......a week an a half ago, when the snow had just started to melt, (before our current "MONSTER" snow storm hit), I slipped, fell and broke my right hand! The shop is currently "closed" for healing purposes as I literally can't work on anything, yeah it sucks I can't even write at this point, and can barely type with my left hand.....PLEASE see the website "Home Page" for updates on my condition, as the Doctors are concerned with the location of the break, that I might have to undergo surgery for pins to hold the bones together in my hand for them to heal right.....
BUT, like a bad penny, I'll try to be around as much as I can!

Sorry to hear about the injury, hope you mend well and fast. The snow conditions must have been a lot like those you experienced in PA right?

Thanks guys! I hate it....I look in the shop, see all the stuff I have yet to do, and here it is, can't do a single thing, besides pack up trades and get them in the mail, as a temporarily loss of use right handed person of his right hand makes a lot of things nearly impossible......... the only unaffected task I can do........is drive! I drive left handed most the time and typing is alittle slow too as its all done left handed, solo!
AF, as for the winters, yeah, there close just more snow here then there but that's OK, I actually should have known better..........stupid hurts!
The Doc's are saying its healing nicely.......I just wish it was alittle faster LOL

John, you shouldn't be auditioning for Ice Capades at your age.
Speaking of age, I think I just dated myself.
Get well soon, pardner.

Sorry about the fall! That's really a shame. Hope get better soon.
By the way, I heard you were looking for a toilet from the Life-Like plumbing supply kit to make castings of? Well I got a plumbing supply kit and would be happy to send the part to you.

Thanks everyone! Well, good news......the hand is heeling pretty well, I shouldn't need the "pins" they were talking about!
Scary part? (the bad part) when I fell, it gave me 2 open wounds on my hand, and turned out to contract a Staph infection while at the hospital......This inturn, gave me some sort of "heart infection" and they put me on a "home" type IV for Antibiotics! What a boring existence, let me tell ya!
Tomorrow, I see a Cardiologist, for tests to see if it damaged my heart at all......Last week, they had me take a stress test and a Ultrasound, they both came back normal.......So hopefully, tomorrow all goes well, also!
I can say this, I will definitely be more careful the next time around, as I got so much work to do in the shop, and here I am, doing next to "absolutely, nothing!"
Dick, THANKS for posting that! Right after I got off the phone with you last week, (before all this hit) the UPS guy came, with my new computer system!
Nelson, always good for a laugh! I don't ice skate, and nor would I try......lol

Well, everyone...
I have been absent due to a few things, as you know I suffered a broken hand, its all but healed, going through therapy.....Not bad....
Well with the broken hand and the Staph infection I got and the heart infection from it, and all the tests, WELL the Stress test came back, GREAT, the Ultrasound came back normal too.....
THEN, I went to see a Cardiologist, WELL he suggested a heart catheterization....I went through that this past Tuesday............Seems, I have REALLY bigger fish to fry right? WELL NO! I am going in for open heart surgery! The Cath came back, I have 3 blockages, (Actually 4), but the 4th isn't to sure they can get to it, and its only the small veins, the other 3 are all rather important ones! I need a triple bypass at this point! Before he gave me the news, he looked at me and was like "your heart is whole, and healthy! I'm surprised you have had at least one possibly 2 heart attacks!" I was like WTF? (Excuse the French guys......) Altho, I didn't say that to him, he was giving me the news on what he found!
Hell, I'm 34 years old, and I have the health of what seems to be a 60 year old and then on top of this the other dark meat, I'm Diabetic, and have been since I was 2......March the 3rd, makes it 33 years I've had Diabetes, which is what is to blame as my blood pressure and Cholesterol are both under control! PLUS in pretty good shape to boot! Outside of the blockages!
All I can say everyone, please forgive me, this is the worst possible news I could have gotten! AS I'm going to be literally cracked open like an egg! Full blown open heart surgery.... they tell me heal time is 12 weeks.....those that are customers, and those I have trades going on with, I'm going to do my best to get hose trades out in the mail and get whatever work I can done, in the shop before the surgery, as if something happens, My wife won't know what to do to make things right!
All I can ask for at this point, is keep me in your prayers! I don't know how this one is going to go! As this is something completely new to me and as I know and have heard, pain full! BUT, I will try to be around after its all said and done with!
~John

Hi EM-1,
I will keep you in my prayers.
My Cousin went through a triple bypass a little while back. She says now she feels better than before.
My Cousin used a big soft Teddy Bear to put over her chest and hold tight when she coughed. She says it really helps with the pain.
Stay positive.

John, to say you've been having a run of bad luck is an understatement. I can't believe you're dealing with heart issues like this at your age. Open heart surgery is no joke, but your youth is no doubt an advantage in that regard. I'll be keeping you in my prayers, and let us know how things are going.

John,
You're in my prayers. Our trade can wait. (It's been waiting 4 months, what's 3 more? ) Seriously though, just take care of yourself and get better.

EVERYONE! I'm almost back in business.....My hand is allowing me to do alittle decal work. stress free, non-taxing on the heart. AS I have yet to see the Cardiology Surgeon for the procedure, so....might as well get alittle done that my hand will allow me too......
GOOD for moral at this point!
The surgery is a ways off, and that will allow me to get some done and the work with decaling with my right hand, will be therapeutic at this point to help my right hand get back to normal as once the operation happens, I'll be laid up again, for awhile......total heal time is 12 weeks, doctor says use of my limbs will be within 2 weeks......
Heres doing what I do best.............That alone has kept me going and looking forwards in life and all the family things I can get myself in to and the trains I got to build for the future!
