Bought this original non-powered NYC GP20 at a show yesterday. It has both couplers, a bad herald on front, no box, and needs cleaned up and I think the wrong horns but I have seen Tyco NYC Geeps with black horns on the powered and non-powered also. In fact Toptrain's NYC Geep lash-up has black horns. I haven't seen many of these non-powered units.

My Tyco unit is an Alco 630 Chessie #1102, friend of mine had it, didn't have a use for it and didn't have time to restore it so he gave it to me back in mid December. I've been putting off repairing it till yesterday when I took it out of the deadline, removed all the wheels for cleanining, expanded the axle slots or bearings for the electrial pick up or dummy wheels so they would roll freely, put a drop of oil on the motor shafts put the truck covers on the left side back on and she fired back to life! her left side is her good side being her right side is missing the truck covers and handrails I hope to find those soon then I can use this big engine to power SCVR's tourist trains for the diesel side.

** Here is a engine I like alot . I had painted and lettered for the Pennsylvania Great Western Railway. It is now part of catfordkens collection. I keep saying that i will do another just like it, with a diifferent number for use here at the Frankford branch of the PGW.

** You see it is a Mantua-Tyco pacific using the vanderbuilt tender. *** " GO PGW ! RIDE THE BEST " FRANK

Hi Ken. The pair looks great. I am very glade you like them.
And Alco fan thanks, and the hardest thing was matching the red stripe decals used as the boiler bands. The red on the walkway edges is paint. frank

I'm not familiar with the PGW, is it an actual fallen flag or free-lanced RR?

Thanks Hyde, That was quite a project. The hard part was fitting the Bachmann 0-6-0 drivers on the Rivarossi axles. Then removing and replacing the cast on railings, moving the headlight and building new pilots.

That's beautiful, Ray! How did you get the Bachmann drivers to fit, since they have those thick diecast stub axles. Did you cut those off and drill out the centers on the lathe?

Yes, I cut the backs of the drivers flush and drilled an 1/8" hole in the centers on the lathe. Then filled those holes with epoxy, then drilled them out to fit the Rivarossi axles so the drivers were insulated. Putting smaller drivers from the Rivarossi 0-4-0, 0-6-0, or 0-8-0 might be easier.
