Well, we've all seen scenicked model railroads, and some of us have seen scenicked slot car layouts. Well, I was wondering why I hadn't seen much in the way of scenicked RC layouts. They're out there, but you don't see them very often. While I'm not a big RC fan, I decided to experiment a little. It's still under construction, but here's what I came up with:

Yep, it's a 1/64th racetrack for micro RC cars. The cars are 1/64, meaning they're right at home with Hot Wheels, Matchbox, and HO slot cars. The red and blue cars are the RC's, the blue Model A-type car is a diecast body on a Life-Like slotcar frame, and the other vehicles are standard 1/64 toys. The tow truck and tanker truck are 1970's Matchbox-Lesney products (made in England) which I found at thrift store a few days ago. The cones and signs came from Dollar Tree. The base is a bulletin board I found at thrift store, and the grass (which still needs a few coats of darker green) is made from Dollar Tree microfiber washcloths.

Each car takes a minute or two to recharge on it's controller, and they'll both run for about three to five minutes.

I'm considering taking this layout to model train shows, along with a railroad layout, just to show that scenicked layouts can involve more than just trains. I'm also thinking about adding a simple HO slotcar loop to the racetrack, so that both RC and slotcars could be demonstrated. It could also serve to entertain the kids who aren't really into trains.

Anyhow, what do you think of it?

Looks super! I'll bet it's fun trying to keep those little R/C cars steered correctly, are they easy or do they over-correct too much? Pretty neat idea. I'd like something like that myself. Animation is an interest of mine, too bad I"m getting older, with less energy, than I had 10 years ago. Not sure I'll have ANY energy left by the time I am old enough to retire to do this full time. LOL. Love to see more of this when it's been more detailed as well.
