Just a little fun with a battered locomotive I recently purchased. The assortment of little dings gave me the freedom to modify it and add details as I saw fit.
The front headlight was damaged, so I carved it off and filled the hole with a putty made from dissolving the shavings in liquid plastic cement...

I then modified the dinged roof by filing it a bit more rounded, then adding Alco like awnings fore and aft by adding a separate piece of sheet styrene, carefully applying in stages...I also replaced missing rear steps with more sheet styrene, all of which was salvaged from old store signage...

Then I added some details from the scrap box...an Athearn bell, two Aristo-Craft single chime horns, Pyle lights front and rear, and an old AHM trolley pole. Why a trolley pole? The SP had some switchers that worked the streets with a local interurban electric line...the pole didn't provide power to the locomotives, they were used to trip the signals while in electric territory, I thought it looked pretty good and stole the idea. You can see a bit of SP influence in the front headlight too...

Finally some paint, I found that Testor's Sea Blue matched close enough. After a coat of Krylon #1311 Matte Finish, I put some MV Products lens in the headlights. A bit of gold paint touched off the bell...

Sweet! I have a Marx Hustler exact same color. Didn't know about the trolley line usage, that is fascinating. Where would I find pictures of that? Thanks for posting this unusual kitbash.
