Marvelous.
I really like the roof weathering on that GTW box car.

Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

Years ago I was intimidated about weathering, but when I read an article in a Model Railroader issue about using "paint washes", weathering for me became enjoyable and easy. Cool factor with washes is that they can be applied with paint brushes or air brushes. I thin Polly Scale paints approximately 70%-80% to create the weathering washes.

Here are a few of the colors that I use.

I typically put just a small amount of each in the cup sections of a pill container or plastic egg crate, then thin the paint.

These are shots of a Walthers Budd Baggage Dorm unit that I metalized. I weathered the underframe and trucks with washes and applied them with a Taklon modeler's paint brush. As mentioned in the model railroader article, the trick for weathering washes to appear natural is to stroke them on "vertically" to give the appearance of gravity's effects on rain and the elements.

Be creative, share and enjoy the hobby :-)
